Happy Sad Mom Day

Baby Boy went to New College Student Orientation yesterday.

He completed his paperwork and received his student ID and parking pass (OMG!)  without any help from me.  I was just a sparkly accessory for his left elbow.  He handled himself like such a capable young man.  I was so . . .

. . . Impressed . . .

. . . And sad . . .

. . . And inspired . . .

. . . And nostalgic . . .

. . . And amazed . . .

. . . And wistful.

As you can see, I'm having mixed emotions . . . but the bottom line is that I'm so happy for him right now.  A whole new season of his life is opening up right before our eyes.  I just never imagined it would be such an emotional experience for the entire family.  It's not just his success; it really feels like our success.

Homeschooling rocks!  All.  Day.  Long.

Until next time . . .

Fantastic description of a beautiful event. I love your role as the "sparkly accessory for his left elbow."

Peace

P.S. I am checking ebay for humidifiers now...do I want a cool mist one? Will it make the room cooler?

It's a pretty cool feeling, huh? I'm currently working on my resolving my feelings about KJ going AWAY to college in Fall of 2011. We're visiting his choice school over spring break.

This is the heart of being a parent, my friend. All those emotions at once. Thank you for sharing. I'll be there all too soon. =) =(

Oh I know just how you feel sweetie! Our oldest is talking about moving out of home. Here I am with one boot ready to give her a shove and the arms holding her tight so she can't leave! LOL! Being a mom is sometimes so hard hey? Such proud moments can also bring such misery! Good luck to Baby Boy, at least you know you have raised one capable young man! Way to go MOM!!!
