Big Winter Storm, Texas Edition

In response to Jennifer, In Vancouver, I wanted to show everyone what I mean by Big Winter Storm.  You see, here in my area of Texas we get snow about once every decade or so.  In fact, Baby Boy, all seventeen years of him, has never seen more than a dusting of "snowish" type precipitation.

So, while our Big Winter Storm doesn't nearly match up to the Big Winter Storms I've heard about and seen photos of on my other blogging-buddies' blogs . . . I feel it's important to let you know that it is indeed only twenty-one degrees today (Brrrrrr!) and every single school district, university, community college, grocery store, and government office is closed today.

And here's why:

The Front Yard

The Driveway - Indeed that Jeep is Longhorn Orange, Thankyouverymuch!

The Backyard, good thing we picked all the broccoli.

And some rainwater left in the ice coolers . . . to freeze . . . yes . . . we're those people.

So now you know how to close down Central Texas . . . just throw half an inch of snow on it! LOL!

Stay Warm!

Until next time . . .

While up to 6 inches of snow is nothing to me, and below-freezing temperatures don't give me pause, I can definitely understand how temps in the 20's and a dusting of snow is going to throw people in Texas for a loop! It's just not normal winter weather for you guys!

So stay warm and let's hope spring comes early. ;)

Yesterday we were picking 1" thick slabs of ice off of our deck and steps. If only it was just a sprinkling of snow!
LOL. Thanks for the Texas perspective on winter storms!

I can't do snow or cold weather. My body just breaks down and I can't go on. Okay, I know....little dramatic, but I'm spoiled by California weather.

Thanks for the photos! It's good to know that I wasn't that far off in my understanding of the usual Texas weather patterns. As far as things closing down, it just all depends what you're used to doesn't it?

Hope you're all staying warm!

Now that's my kinda snowstorm! Just cold and snowy enough to justify the spiked hot cider.

Oh I bet your raised beds look great right before harvest *I want 'em!* LOL. If our time in ND taught me anything it was that any amount of snow is too much damn snow. LOL.
