Pardon Our Absence . . .

. . . Scholarship application deadlines are looming!

Very busy writing, editing, and rewriting . . . you know while continuing with schoolwork, housework, and the usual miscellaneous obligations.

Wish us luck . . . we'll know something in about . . . four months.

Talk about your delayed gratification, LOL.

Oh, well, such is life.

Until next time . . .

Defibrillator, Anyone? PLEASE!!!

This weekend, as I was paying bills, Baby Boy plopped some papers on my desk and said he wanted to talk.

Guess what those papers were?

Let this be a cautionary tale for you homeschooling Moms out there.

If you raise your kids to do very well in their studies and allow them to think that the world is their oyster and they can do anything they want as long as they are willing to work hard and sacrifice to get it . . . the whole she-bang could backfire on you.  You could end up with a son who doesn't want to live in their bedroom for the rest of their natural lives.

They may actually want to branch out and have a life of their own.

*SIGH*

Until next time . . .

Big Winter Storm, Texas Edition

In response to Jennifer, In Vancouver, I wanted to show everyone what I mean by Big Winter Storm.  You see, here in my area of Texas we get snow about once every decade or so.  In fact, Baby Boy, all seventeen years of him, has never seen more than a dusting of "snowish" type precipitation.

So, while our Big Winter Storm doesn't nearly match up to the Big Winter Storms I've heard about and seen photos of on my other blogging-buddies' blogs . . . I feel it's important to let you know that it is indeed only twenty-one degrees today (Brrrrrr!) and every single school district, university, community college, grocery store, and government office is closed today.

And here's why:

The Front Yard

The Driveway - Indeed that Jeep is Longhorn Orange, Thankyouverymuch!

The Backyard, good thing we picked all the broccoli.

And some rainwater left in the ice coolers . . . to freeze . . . yes . . . we're those people.

So now you know how to close down Central Texas . . . just throw half an inch of snow on it! LOL!

Stay Warm!

Until next time . . .

Yucky Outside - Yummy Inside!!

We're not letting the Big Winter Storm of 2011 bother us.  Mom #2 cooked up an spectacular pot of Big Winter Storm Repellent!

First, she mixed some luxuriously smooth cream into her special homemade chicken broth . . .

. . . then she chucked in a a stick of butter . . .

. . . which was followed by the rolling . . .

. . . and cutting of some super sized dumplings.

Of course she didn't forget the seasoning . . .

. . . and adding of shredded free-range chicken.

Baby Boy and I danced with anticipation as it simmered delectably throughout the house all morning long  . . .

. . . until we finally got a delicious bowl to eat . . .

. . . in front of a toasty roaring fire!

See, I told you . . .Big Winter Storm Repellent!

Stay Warm!!!

Until next time . . .
