Not Back To School Celebration!

We aren't starting our full-fledged studies until mid September, but every year we join a bunch of other homeschoolers in the area for the annual Not Back To School Celebration. It's been going on as long as we've been homeschooling and I'm sure many years before. On the first day of public school, we all get together and talk and laugh and eat and the children swim and we celebrate our choice to take our children's educations into our own hands and set them free from institutionalized cookie cutter learning!

We had a great time!

First, the whole gang . . .

. . . Now let’s zoom in for what we really came for . . .

. . . An opportunity to show what all that Ultimate Frisbee and Taekwondo does for him.

Until next time . . .

This is so cool. What a wonderful get-together.

Our local HS group is having an end-of-summer gathering on Sept. 11 and this will be the first time I get to see any of them beyond our email group.

Glad everyone had fun.

What a great looking group! The party sounds like fun!

Our group usually has a not back to school picnic, but I don't think anyone is organizing it this year. I'm not. ;)

How cool! A Not-Back-To-School-Celebration sounds as fun as a Take-This-Job-And-Shove-It Party.

I like it!

What an awesome group!

Back in the days when I ::sniff:: was a ::sob:: homeschooling mom, I had ::sigh:: some homeschooling friends to hang out with.

But those days are ::shriek::
GONE!

Looks like a lot of fun!

O.k., I already tried this and was rejected for not being signed in. Ah, for the days of automatic recognition.

Anyway, I commented on the huge number of kids, and on the fact that it's still too hot for our park group to be very large. However, we did enjoy the lack of ps kids at "our" park today.

Eventhough I've homeschooled our kids all their lives (almost 18 years), this is the first year we're involved with a homeschool group. We're having a not back to school party in a couple weeks too. Lot's of teens and kids of all ages. We missed out on stuff like this when I was working. Woo Hoo for lay offs. J/K Seriously, though, super happy to be with my kids full time again.

Do you live near Regular Mom? They have something the same. I think it's cool!
